Essentially both are the same, just different carriers |
And one is not interchangeable with the other's carrier. For example, the 8130 does not work with AT&T and T-Mobile.
But there are more differences than just the above.
The 8100 has a 1.3 MP camera, the 8130 is 2 MP.
The 8100 does not have GPS, while the 8130 does.
The 8100 cannot record video, while the 8130 can.
The 8100 tops out on the GSM based EDGE network (basically 2G speeds), while the 8130 can run on the CDMA's 1X EvDO - which is their 3G network.
To get on AT&T what you can get with the 8130, you have to get the 8110 - which does have the same specs, but still doesn't do 3G.
The 8120 is similar to the 8110 except they swapped out the GPS for WiFi.
Wait a while for the new 9100 Pearl 3G to come out. It has it all - WiFi, GPS, 3G, video recording, media playback, 3.2 MP camera, plus more memory to add more apps and is supposed to be compatible with the new OS 6 coming later in the year.
