BB Pearl Data Plan
Hello ppl's. This up-coming weekend i''m getting the 30 dollars 6gb data plan for my pearl. My buddy works for rogers and said he can get me it. I wanted to ask you (the experts) some questions regarding the plan.
1. I'm not familiar with all this giga byte stuff so forgive me if i ask stupid questions.
2. What does 6GB mean? i wanna surf the web alot in one day and send and recieve emails, possibly look at the maps if i need it. Will 6GB be enough?
3. How long is 6 gb for? Like at the beginning of the month u get 6GB and u have it until next month? Then the beginning of the next month do u get a fresh 6GB?
Thank You In Advance
p.s sorry if the questions seem stupid, but i would rather know this stuff before subscribing for the plan.

i am on the internet basically all day
lots of emails
maps all the time
facebook once in awhile
really I check the blogs in the morning
and use what I need during the day jumping on google and wiki and stuff like that
but at least 2 hours a day to 3
youtube not so much
the most gb usage i have had is 4-5
but that was with tethering as well - 09-22-2008, 08:43 PM #5
Gigabytes are how much memory you have. The more, the better! 6GB is more than what an iphoney has, so your good on that. Browsing online shouldn't be a problem

i see i see. So i got it today and i've been surfing the web, i'm having trouble using the internet though. Like going to websites. I thought there would be like an internet explorer icon and u click it and enter a link in the address bar and your good. BUT it's complicating. I have to things... Rogers WAP and Do More. Can i install something like IE or Firefox?

There should be an icon for your browser, it may look like the internet explorer icon on windows, if there is no icon for your browser then you need to have te service books sent to your phone, you can do it yourself under options or have your service provider send them

Ok now that i can access the internet... what are some things u can do or free apps that u can put on your pearl with a data plan?
Thank You

The sites would all be accessed using your data so all you paying is for your data plan.
Try doing a search with wht apps to add etc. Its all been asked before. There are some great thread on Top 10 apps and Top 10 things to do with you BB etc.

I seem to have a problem with Opera Mini. It won't connect to the internet. when it tries to view a web page the following msg pops up.
"Failed to connect to the internet.
Go http://www.operamini.com/help?version=4.1 with your desktop browser or contact your service provider for internet settings."
I tried the link but it didn't solve my problem. Has anybody else had this problem occur too them?? Has anybody got a solution?

stxeph, out of nowhere it started working. It wasn't working when I was in the basment then I came upstairs and it started working. Thx anyways though.
If i was to stay on the internet for 1 hours straight on my pearl. How much out of 6gb of data would that waste?

i have the whole bb pearl plan.. i didnt know that it was only 6gb. i thought it was unlimited. i am on the internet all of the time and i have never been billed for anything.. i use it literally prolly 20 out of 30 days a month and am on it for at least 2-5 hours those days. maybe mines unlimited but idk. i only pay 30 a month for mine...??? so yeah ...i have att...
lovin it

Mine is unlimited also.. And there is really no time limit for how long 6gb last it can vary by how many pictures the page your viewing can have, if your downloading stuff. You just need to monitor each month and see how your doing. Maybe find out if your carrier has some kind of shortcut so you can check your daily usage.
Oh yeah and most company's that have aircards like sprint and att only offer 5gb for your laptop or desktop and your getting a gb more just for your phone. If your phone isn't your primary internet browser I think you'll be fine.
