Accordingto Wikipedia T-Mobile USA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (admittedly not a perfect source, but probably correct) they use "AWS 1700/2100 MHz frequency-band" so it seems like it should work. I'm thinking about getting one from Amazon, for the "customer service" factor, but I'm still hesitant to pull the trigger, because I still haven't held one in my hand yet (after visiting 3 different ATT stores)

I think it is a good deal, not sure if this is going to work with tmobile or not. But based on the spec, it should work. Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | "You may return new, unopened items sold and fulfilled by Amazon.com within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. Items should be returned in their original product packaging. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error. Just visit our online Returns Center, and we will guide you through the process and even supply you with a return mailing label you can print out.
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper; however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days). We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
If you have an Amazon private label product or other product that is eligible under a warranty issued by Amazon, you can always choose to exercise your rights under that warranty rather than going through our General Returns Policy."

cheap is good when it works - many people cannot get the cbw or wind to fire up on uma yet alone 3G, so to get a phone what will work 100% vs one that is not clear seems like a sound choice to start things off in the right direction and I would love to see someone get service outside a 30 day window from a vendor that supplies amazon, no way - the only way to get proper service imo is direct right from the carrier.
edit, just had some coffee - any unit not purchased via a carrier will usually just have a 30 day max warranty or whatever the return policy provides for - RIM devices have a 1 year warranty, but not directly - all warranty claims are administered via the carrier - if you don't get a device via a carrier you are out of luck, no warranty. I would rather purchase from someone that has close to a 100% positive feedback and says the device will work on a specific network vs a no name via amazon, etc any day of the week.

it will say 3G, not 3g - call your carrier, they can talk you though if its possible with the device you have and they will also tell you if the device is compatible spec wise. did you also get UMA working?
