Default Problems with Battery

Hi,

I don't know if anyone can help me.

I got my dad a blackberry pearl 3g and he's fallen in love with it, problem is, the battery last 8 hours on standby. We've already exchanged the handset once, and purchased 2 genuine blackberry batteries.

The new handset that has turned up is doing exactly the same, but worse!!!!!

The phones are 'refurbished' and I thought possibly that it could be a software glitch as it was running a very low 5.0 OS and I've put on OS 6. This hasn't worked either.

Phone never feels cool to touch, even if it's been on the side the phone is quite above room temperature, using it for a little bit makes the phone go really hot.

Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem. Picked mine up a little over a week ago and need to charge it everyday. Even days when I've only sent 1 or 2 texts, the battery is just draining. I turned wifi off to see if that was the culprit, but no luck.

I'm coming from the terrible samsung link. While that phone wasn't great, the battery was awesome. I only needed to charge once every 1.5-2 weeks on average.

Yeah, this one isn't even lasting 7 hours.

The place I got it from aren't being very helpful so I've purchased another one elsewhere - a brand new one to see if the issue is still persistant on that.

Should be somewhat interesting...

then manually encode all contacts. i believe i might downloaded some thing from the BB world that make my phone drain battery. now its working fine and normal so now BB not that bug proof.

Default battery problems

I have a pearl9100 running on os5 thats about 9 months old, and up until about a week ago, every time the battery drained the red light would come on and the networks would stop running because the battery was too low, yet the phone itself would stay functional for about 12 hours with the light flashing. NOW when the battery is dying, the red light comes on for 5 seconds then the handset just shuts down.
Why is this happening all of a sudden? Are any apps known to do this? The only recent one I have downloaded is the Zombie Attack game.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I would ideally like the red light to flash for at least a few minutes so I can get to my charger.

EDIT: Also: before, when the battery was strong enough for a network signal, the mobile network connected automatically. Now i have to connect manually. Any suggestions?
