Fly to Canada, pick up the phone/get it unlocked there, fly back to US, done!
All in a days work!

I would just purchase this phone just to have it, I love it!
Too bad a CDMA variant was never released. :/

true, but there are boarder companies that do the receiving and sending to the other country

Metrotown in Burnaby BC Canada had 5 this morning, I bought 1 for my brother (which is how I know) phone number is 604-456-0449
There is a good chance there's still some left at this kiosk because there wasn't a whole lot of people in town (long weekend for BC, everyone has taken off it seems)
