| | Pearl 3G on T-Mobile
The Pearl 3G (91xx) is 3G capable on AT&T's mobile network, however the bands listed on the BlackBerry website seems to support T-Mobile's 3G network.
If I unlock the Pearl 3G, will this phone work on T-Mobile's 3G network?
Thank You.

You need to buy a Pearl from Cincinnati Bell or Wind Canada in order to get 3G on T-Mobile.

the op asked a question and the correct answer is if you unlock an att device and use it on t-mobile it will not have 3G or UMA - if you cannot tell the diff then great but there is a huge difference to me and I would think many others. one idea of this device is that its like a mini 9700 spec wise. having a fast cpu + 3G makes the device come alive. ditto with wifi/N and UMA. with just edge not so much.

OK... Now i was curious to know it too.... so i went ahead and tried it but first did a bit of research.
Because 3G is faster than EDGE in every area, it is usually preferred unless it is not available or the signal is too weak. EDGE has the upper hand in low signal areas, as it requires less signal strength to operate than 3G. However, 3G often drops out in areas where there is a less-than optimum cellular signal.
Moreover, 3G is fairly expensive, requiring data plans of $30 or more per month. Because EDGE is an older technology, some carriers, such as T-Mobile, offer it as a less expensive alternative to 3G.
I had to drive around a bit and see the difference but i did make the 3G work. ;-) So yeah... you CAN get 3G on the Pearl 9100 with T-Mobile!

wtf are you talking about? nobody can get tmo 3G on any att device, not you not anyone. even if you could 3G does not cost a dime more, you are talking about data plans.

its not whatever dude, you need to do your homework before posting incorrect info - how would you like to purchase something for $ 400 and not have it work because of someones lames info? if you think att phones can be used on t-mobile's 3G network then you need to up your coffee intake, this is one of the more amateur comments I have ever seen here and to think 3G actually costs more per month than 3G then that is icing on the cake.

If you want to be rude that's fine too, go right ahead, that's going to help out a lot of people | you my friend are the one doing a disservice here, i have the pms to prove who I have helped out. tmobile 3G will use 1700 and 2100. ATt 3G uses 850 and 1900. these 2 network are completely incompatible so again you are on crack.
