| | nearly constant hourglass
Lately I've been having trouble with a nearly constant hourglass on my home screen. This makes the device almost unusable. I tried all sorts of stuff that I thought would fix it (memory cleaning, memory boosting, battery pulls, closing applications, etc.), but ultimately, it seems to be fixed by Unchecking Show All for my icons on the home screen (so only showing the usual unhidden icons).
Strange. I'm hoping this helps another frustrated soul.

6.0.0.424
And, for the life of me, I cannot get UMA working. Earlier leak of 6 worked fine. Sigh.

you don't have to involve your admin except to get a new activation password but when you downgrade I am not sure he will be able to just keep your account active on the bes - usually all the old settings will just come across with a new password, but if he has to delete the account the you will lose all your settings - there is no way of knowing until you get into it. if you are on bes then that implies you are using your bb for business and I flat out think its crazy to use a beta for business. even there normal os' have lots of issue - rim is so random, the amount of different os versions proves the point. if you want help to get whole again I am glad to assist

yeah, that's one way to do it, remove any old os installs via add/remove or programs, install the new .exe and delete the vendor.xlm file from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. I would use the latest os you can find or the one I am using seems to work great. Then you have to get your bes admin to just set a new password and hopefully it will activate ok - do not have him delete your bes account or you will lose your sound profiles and everything else, its a real pain getting that stuff back

Mine is working now "almost" perfect with the latest Leak 6.0.0.424 and I say "lamost" because I get every once in a while the hourglass but thats becuase of my BBM Groups.
It's very hard to say it's a total crap based on what you have read, why dont you try it and see for yourself???

I have tried 6 on a 9800 and I cannot see the merit of the os in any way shape or form, its a solution for a problem that does not exist imo. name one thing that makes business use better and more productive? its not a production os and will be plagued with constant bugs for the foreseeable future. lets just say its no vista>window7/64 os jump. if you like it great, but you are one of the lucky ones.

who really cares about a browser in a screen the size of a postage stamp. besides getting a restaurant telephone number via google apps I have never used the browser. I don't try beta os' on work device, sort of a rule of mine but everyone is different. again enjoy your beta.
