Mini USB on New Pearl 3G 9105
I am a bit surprise to see that the USB cable for the new Pearl has a much thinner mini USB than my previous Pearl model. None of my mini USB cables at home can fit in the Pearl 3...

No idea what you are talking about now.
The Pearl series has never had a full QWERTY keyboard. ??
Whatever. Enjoy your BlackBerry. - 04-30-2011, 12:22 PM

californiablackberry has it right. Phone on the left is the 9105, phone on the right is the 9100. Same guts, different keyboard. Why RIM chose to sell one variant in the US and the other in the Rest of the world is a puzzler.

OH MY GOD....
Ok I feel really stupid. But there is another problem. I HATE IT. I am now typing so slow on this t9 keyboard. I really assumed I was buying it with the Suretype keyboard!
I found this keyboard part online: Blackberry Pearl 3G 9100 9105 QWERTY Replacement Keyboard Keypad Blackberry Accessories
how hard would it be to replace my T9 keyboard and change the keyboard layout on the pearl? I really would hate to have lost my money as I really have no intention on using a T9
thanks a lot for showing me

On the Pearl the keyboard circuitry is attached to the keyboard and not the motherboard. This is a unusual configuration, as most devices (from what i seen) have the keyboard circuitry on the motherboard. this, and the fact that OS updates are interchangeable, leads me to believe that they are identical; only that the keyboard circuitry remaps the keys. i never had this confirmed.
I've disassembled my Pearl before using an ifixit guide (to make it NOT pink- i got it used). Overall it's medium difficulty, so I recommend getting someone experienced to do it.Blackberry 10 > Windows Phone 7/8 > Blackberry 7 > iOS > Android > Symbian > WebOS > Meego - 05-05-2011, 12:17 AM

so it can be done and connecting the new keyboard would 'automatically' remap the keys.
