I plan to buy an unlocked passport very soon. My question is will I able to get official OS update (e.g 10.3.1) later on if my carrier (CMHK - China Mobile Hong Kong) didn't sell BB Passport. So sad that they actually didn't sell any BB10 device.

Yes. BlackBerry will push it directly to you and it will most likely be faster than waiting for carrier approval.

LonestarRed, that's interesting. If the update is released but slow coming from AT&T can I "trick" blackberry into pushing the update by removing the sim card and connecting over wifi?

I wish in 2015, BlackBerry would just take the non carrier ota route. Like apple. Reduces fragmentation and improves cust sat.

I concur 1000%. I think the current way of doing things is nuts.

In a word, yes. No trick needed! It's a default for unlocked handsets purchased direct from BlackBerry. A HUGE plus in my opinion!

Sadly BlackBerry isn't in the position that Apple are in ie bypassing carriers. They hold sweet FA clout with carriers.

Unfortunately, it's not like carriers are selling their units. So perhaps, a reason to improve the experience. If the CX experience sucks, people won't be coming to them as it is.

I know people buy Apple because of the superb experience. I know I am more confident knowing that if I have an issue, Apple will take care of it. Even at times, at their own expense. That's how you build loyalty in today's age.

I am an avid BB supporter but there are basics that are missing in this day and age. Something's gotta give.

I did that with my Z10 I believe.... wasn't showing through my carrier then took the sim out and there it was..... probably work for the passport too.

It will work if it's been pushed.
