Really? Wow, how did you manage to create a full function of excel worksheet on passport? Or merging data from word, excel to powerpoint using passport?

Would Office 365 allow one to do any of those tasks?

I carry a laptop b/c creating Word and WordPerfect (which is superior for my work) documents much easier on a laptop than on a phone. Furthermore, Docs2Go won't even open footnotes in Word documents--which makes that app useless for my work.

The only reason that I didn't get surface pro 3 is the lack of wireless data connection to my wireless share plan. So for my main on the go computing device, I use a Samsung Galaxy tab S 10.5 LTE for work access or on the go. Otherwise, my laptop at home Is my HP ENVY i7 running windows 8.1.

I actually find the Passport to be a decent laptop replacement.

Instead, I built a beastly PC and have decided to forego a semi-powerful laptop and or a webcentric notebook. So a Passport and a Desktop is it for me. My work requires a powerful computer, however.

Right now I'm using the Q10, but found the Passport to be the better emailing/communication device (I prefer it to a laptop for email).

I like my laptop to be a laptop with at least a15" screen and all one piece. I also have a tablet for lighter use.

X1 Carbon for work, Surface Pro 3 for personal and travel.

Both are really good at a lot of things, but have some downsides.

For the ThinkPad, the main downsides are:
    1. Battery life is not good.
    2. The "new" keyboard layout and trackpad is not good if you're used to old ThinkPads. Home/End are on the wrong side, and having virtual function keys is not great.

For the Surface Pro 3 downsides are:
    1. USB connections are highly unreliable. I have a thread on here somewhere about Sachesi/Link and the SP3 and how they're basically useless over USB. Blend also just randomly stops working. I've noticed that using a 128GB USB stick is also hit and miss. I'd think it was my machine, but if you look at the thread, it seems to be common.
    2. Battery leaves something to be desired.

If I were to pick one, it would be the SP3 - it does 90% of what I need and the versatility is a game changer.

Problem is laptops all have bad keyboards, I prefer mechanical keyboards, and they tend to be 2x as thick as most laptops. Currently my work computer is a Retina Macbook Pro with a Matias Mini Laptop Pro keyboard. The keyboard weighs more than the laptop. When I do have to actually work outside of my office (rare) I dread using the built in keyboard, and Apple's are some of the best.

After using Macs (Powerbooks + Macbooks Pro) for the last 13yrs, I'm switching to a Lenovo T450s this month. I've considered the X1-Carbon, but the extra 4GB RAM and the 6-cell battery made me go for the T450s.

They changed the keyboard in the 2015 X1 Carbon, they gave up the virtual F-keys and returned to "normal" ones. Plus, the trackpoint/pad has "real" buttons as well again!

Glad to hear that. I'll have to look into the x1 again now that those issues have been fixed.

Macbook Air 11 inch, late 2010. Upgraded to 256 GB SSD. But I seldom take the Mac from my house anymore. The Passport works better in the field.

This thing is older than me (j/k), but still runs like a banshie 24/7. It stays home, while I run with my Passport.

Excellent. As I type on a 2014 model, I really mean excellent. This thing is a real step backwards from classic ThinkPad keyboards.
