I'll be honest.. had the passport since they've came out and only experimented with voice to text a few times. Just experimented with it by holding the period key in a text message and holy day, is it accurate. My lady is always doing this crap with her iPhone but I'll be damned if it doesn't save a ton of time for her. I just did numerous experimental texts and sure as ****, IT'S ACCURATE.

Is there a way to train the voice function to your voice and intonation or no?

I find with my Passport that it can be good also but if you want the most accurate I've found that a wired headset with mic seem to be the best for me. I think it can hear you the best. Perhaps the mic on my phone needs to be cleaned but this is what I've found with me. Especially when driving due to all the noise.

Silly but I honestly didn't know if my Passport had voice to text and certainly didn't know how to use it....just now saw the little microphone icon next to the period key!

Lol. It's like 99% accurate as long as you speak properly. You verbalize the commands you want to use (say "period" or "comma" etc..). It knows swear words, lingo, key phrases etc.

I had no idea you could do this. Just activated the feature on my and the wife's passport...and you are right...it is crazy accurate.

...just tried this on the iPad, this seems to work far better on the passport than the ipad.

I wonder if there is a way to harness this capability in combination with a note taking app to create a transcript of audio?

Ha! It even works with Colornote (android). Thanks for reminding me this exists!

Sending emails, facebook posts, texts etc are fantastic with the voice to text.

Also, using blackberry assistant is great. It works just as fast as siri when asking complex questions, mathematical equations etc. It's just fantastic.

Yikes.... I didn't know that this feature existed even though I have been using bb10 for over 3 years now. I did see the microphone over the period ( looking at it now on this z30) but didn't know what it was for. Will have to try it out. Gonna talk now in the next sentence.

Thank you for starting this thread. I have learned something new to do.

Wow! That was quite accurate. Cool. The 'to do' should have been 'today', but I was talking quietly.

I have a deep voice and am naturally inclined to mumbling, but 99% of the time the phone detects my words exactly... including swear words and slang. Most of the time that it messes up my words is either when I mumble or stutter/delay my dictation when I lose train of thought.

And just so you guys know, the Blackberry Assistant function is basically Siri. Ask it the weather, ask it to compute complex equations, ask it the median income of your city, ask it the average of a string of numbers, ask it "how much does a blue whale weigh " (like that commercial for Hey Google and it gives an 8-way break-down into the response etc.
