Received my silver pp yesterday. I'll definitely miss my sexy red one but as you can see in the video, this phone is virtually flawless in the fit and finish as everything sits flush - I tried to show as many angles as possible.

I think Blackberry did an excellent job improving both the quality and overall aesthetic of the passport. If you're on the fence about whether to 'upgrade' or not I can only say that you will not be disappointed. On a side note, I was lucky that I was able to return my red pp as I've only had it three weeks.

    Hope you like:

Dumb question: where is the LED indicator?

The LED indicator is at the top right corner - the circle to the left of the square cam.

Is the keyboard 'easier to type on'? Any differences that you can tell?

Thanks for taking your time recording the video and sharing it with us. I kind of dislike the pretty obvious color difference between the seel frame and the plastic SIM cover. I already noticed it on other videos and pictures. Overall it looks really nice though.
I second the request regarding the differences in terms of keyboard. I often read BlackBerry "improved" the keyboard for the Silver Edition. In what kind of ways is it difference to the original designs?

The keyboard is definitely softer than my red version, but not so soft that it is mushy. There is still a definite click to it, but not as much as before. I find that my typing speed has gone up quite a bit.

You're welcome. Before I answer your question about the keyboard I should mention that the passport is my first phone with a pkb. That being said, the cross over from virtual was much easier than I had anticipated. My red phone was quite stiff when I first received it but after three weeks of 'breaking it in' I was able to type much faster but obviously still slower than a virtual.

The new keyboard required no such break-in period. In fact, it is so smooth that I'm almost back to typing at the speed of a virtual kb. I figure by the end of next week I'll be flying just as fast if not faster as pkb's are more accurate.

I would describe the difference this way - my red phone has a 'click/clack' feel to it where I'm sure I'm subconsciously wondering if I pushed hard enough. The silver simply has a 'click' feel to it whereas I know, without having to subconsciously think for that split second, that I pushed hard enough. The silver kb has a very satisfying feel to it and I've noticed I look forward to typing on it. Whenever I picked up the red I was thinking 'I need to practice my typing'.

I think the new kb will definitely help Blackberry win over customers who have been sitting on the fence about getting a Blackberry with a pkb. As far as some of you veterans of pkb's, I'm not sure how you'll feel about.

I'm not sure if that makes any sense or even helps.

Great video! Both are nice, with a plus for the Silver. How is the call quality, signal? Can't wait to get one!

Nice video and thanks for sharing.

With that said, considering the camera has been redesigned, what happened to the two stereo/noise cancellation microphones that were surrounding both sides of the original Passport? Have they been removed on the Silver Edition PP?

I've only made it to this post in the thread, so sorry if already asked, but what provoked the switch to get PK? And, we're you using a BlackBerry virtual before the switch?
    Just curious.
    Thanks.

Lol, I forgot you can use it t make phone calls. I think I used it once and don't really remember the quality - which in itself speaks volumes.

This is my first Blackberry and came from a Galaxy Note. I decided to go BB as I really liked the operating system. It seemed fluid and well thought out - the hub makes complete sense and the settings menu is easy to navigate. I personally found Samsung's Android skin a pain to use with a lot of fluff and bloat. I wanted something lean and no-nonsense and was considering a Nexus before I started to research BB10.

After seeing photos of the Passport I was immediately drawn to the square form factor - Again, it made sense. I was so fed up of turning my phone sideways to browse the web and losing two thirds of my screen real estate just to type. Then having to turn it back to portrait if I wanted to text. Or accidentally launching an app on its ever so sensitive screen.

I'm shocked how much I'm using my Passport for web browsing, reading forums, shopping, films etc. I've even found that I'm using my couch so much more that I'm now in the market for a recliner.

So glad I made the move to the PP.

It's gorgeos, but with all the new nooks and crannies on the top I wonder about how they will keep it clean for the medical people BB want to adopt, the older versions look easier to keep clean, just saying.lol

I feel like it is just as clicky and tactile, if not more so. However the resistance is less.

Thanks for the video. Love the music by the way. I'm getting my first Blackberry EVER tomorrow (ordered it last Wednesday) and I'm excited and nervous. Using this as a business phone for my own personal business now but who knows, maybe this will end up being my primary phone (my other phone is an iPhone 5S). Nervous but excited at the same time!

Haha.. you're going through what I went when I was considering crossing over to the dark side. I'm not sure of their other phones but if you ordered the Passport I'm quite certain you'll be smitten with it. Btw, the music in the video is Thievery Corporation. Check out 'The Mirror Conspiracy' - one of their most popular cd's.
