I might be hanging myself by posing this question, but I was asked by someone and I truly like to know the answer myself for certain:
I have a Passport, and we all know about the screen aspect when watching video in reference to the large borders prohibiting full screen display.
But those conditions don't seem to carry over for "still picture" viewing.
Question is: it's been a while since the device launch, could this have been addressed in a software update or by a Third party app, (especially in reference to personal video not copywritten; i.e. not You Tube). Or better yet, is there a present solution I'm not aware of. To me, it's somewhat an unnecessary hindrance to a otherwise great device.

Picture taking on the Passport are full screen while those download or saved are not.

Well you could just zoom-in until it fits the whole screen (and miss half the content)

In that case find a video player that can squeeze 16:9 content to 1:1, there is no way to make the passport a good media consumption device.
Magic does not exist.
Watch the content on something else.
