many of the symbols can be typed by swiping down the keyboard. But I didn't find a way to type comma"," using the physical keyboard.

Is there really no way to type comma and question mark without the aid of the virtual keyboard? Or I can't see it.

You can type the dot "." by swiping down twice on the PKB and the pressing M.

Sorry, but you can only add a comma or question mark (etc.) from the virtual keyboard.

It took me a couple of days to get used to that, but after that was able to do it almost without thinking about it.

The point of the virtual keyboard is to give you a massive keyboard. Combined with the large screen, it's very efficient.
Also, saying the word "comma" while using voice to text works great too.

You are right about the tons of symbols there on virtual keyboard. But I still think that since comma is used frequently, it would be nice if we could type it accurately using the physical keyboard. in other words, combine the fact that pkb is for speed and accuracy of typing and the fact that comma is used more frequently than other symbols, it would be very convenient to type it using pkb (and a swipe perhaps).

It can be done tru word substitution.
    Settings/language & input/prediction & correction/word substitution

    example:
    cc for ","
    qq for "?"

Once set, in pkb just type cc and spacebar would give u ","

That is a wise workaround. It has a minor problem though.

When you use cc for comma, the comma will be treated as a word and one blank space will be placed before and after it automatically. But in writing, it is common that the comma, question mark, and dot, are typed attached to the previous word and the next word starts after a blank.
