This is my first thread and good luck for me

Thin vertical line on screen starting to appear on my passport screen, a dead pixel maybe? It is hardly visible (for now) but this really disappoints me.

    Questions:
Is this defective screen or a minor software bug?
Am I the only one experiencing this?
Any fix for this without going to the blackberry service center? (because i have no other phone except this Passport)

what i did to fix this:
    restart (not fixed)
    Reset (not fixed)
reload OS by Autoloader (not fixed)
Reload OS using Sachesi (not fixed)

    Thanks in advance.

If your device is under warranty, I'd recommend visiting a BlackBerry service centre.

I tried to take pictures, but it's not really visible on my cam, imagine there is very tiny hair strand vertically place on your screen. Not much visible on the first look.

I don't see calling Blackberry on your list of what you did to fix this. You said you are trying to avoid that option. Unless you are willing to dismantle the device to troubleshoot the screen cable assembly, you will have to have it serviced.

Thin vertical lines on an screen are not software issues. It is hardware.

Just hold the 'up' and 'down' volume together to get a screen shot.

I would send it in. Defective pixels are one-pixel and manufacturers have a minimum number before you can RMA - usually between 1 and 12.

A range or line is different, it could be a symptom of a bigger impending hardware issue including cracking, bad connections on the motherboard, or even a bigger failure. That one should replaced if you can.

Experiencing the same issue in Singapore here. Sent it for repairs seems to be a display issue and the display is being replaced atm. Bought the device in North America on warranty and was told by Blackberry in Singapore that the warranty is not valid internationally but by region (pretty annoyed about this after I paid full price for the device there). Would cost me about the same to ship it back and here with insurance. Love the device, need it for work soon and paying to get it fixed.
