Call me old fashioned, but when I like a device, it's difficult to change me. I'm flying into singapore next week, and have ordered two new passports to be picked up. But wondering if I should get more if they've stopped making this device.

You should buy more. To be on the safe side I'd buy 5-6 more. Not only are you helping out BlackBerry with sales, you become future proof for the next 10 years.

You could, hardware wise they'd be OK.
But the shelf life of the batteries wouldn't be worth buying the phones that far in advance and trying to use them in the future.

I was wondering about insurance claims my self. What do they plan on replacing the Passport with if it becomes obsolete even for insurance claims.?

Yes. I have similar plans because I expect the batteries will run out after 2-3 years, or at least drain much faster.
I am thinking of buying a new one in the spring of 2016 but I am worried that they may disappear by then, just like z30 has.

You guys; must be really into Passport? I am thinking of buying one. You made me alerted that passport is actually something not to miss to have?

You are correct. It's a great phone to have.

Last week was interesting. I pulled out my phone to respond to a text. One person said, "that's a serious looking phone". Another said that it looked like something from the future. Lol

Once you go wide, it's hard to go back to a narrow phone.

They will take the paid price from the device and will offer you to pay the difference for a new device.(new model)

I had it with a older pearl model.
Paid 250 for it, last year they where available, it broke in warranty and i could upgrade to a other BlackBerry for 60. The difference in price was 60...
