Smart phones are complex devices, so when a BlackBerry launch the passport with an operating system most consumers are not familiar with, with a unique and different input method and a different form factor can they really expect phone store staff to be able to understand it fully, understand the market for it etc
Lets face it most store staff are young people interested in social media and streaming catchup tv.
The BlackBerry strengths are not likely to be high on the average phone salespersons agenda.
To compare to cars. If you had a car sales forecourt full of minis and volvos then employed 20 not very somethings to sell them you'd expect to sell more minis.
BlackBerry need to advertise directly to the consumer and its no good relying on short ads that sell the product based on lifestyle. If you sell that way with an unfamiliar product you get a lot of returns from consumers who built up the wrong picture in their head.
BlackBerry need good quality online bb10 demonstration videos that are not misleading showing virtues of bb10 with and without BES so consumers can be adequately informed before deciding to choose BlackBerry

They've got a new VP of marketing, so here's hoping they hit the ground running with the new devices and really show the masses what they can do!

Online videos that none will ever see? Sure...

They just neet to train stores staff, or placing sellers in malls, explaining it and pointing them to the shop selling it.
