At the launch, JC said the $599 would be for a limited time.
There seems to be some indication that October 1st is a meaningful day for the device.

I'm just speculating here, but do you guys think the price would go up in the US once they announce carrier availability etc.?
Or will they just keep the $599 so they don't offend the fan base here?

It will go up to $699 once the limited time offer expires. It even says what the regular price is on shop blackberry us site.

JMO. I think it will stay the same. If the sales are good, I could see a slight drop next year.

    I'm wouldn't be surprised.

Because Telus has the sticker price as $750 but the computer said it was $700, so I got it for that.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it went up for a while.

My guess is that they have to sell it at a certain price until they can really jack it up, and they hide behind the contract concerns in the meantime to avoid people buying out their stock at the cheaper price.

That would suck, considering they've been out of stock on BlackBerry and Amazon since before the first day had ended...

Amazon allowed an order to be placed at the 599 price yesterday, dunno about today.

Not sure why my work computer went to the Canadian site, but it's still $599 on the US site. Strange

Which is Good, however what would make things GREAT is if that is the price when they get some in stock...

It's interesting that these "other sellers" went from $1300 to $899 to $849 and now $799. I think they thought they could capitalize on Passport "mania" and sell some units at a higher price. The problem is it's not an iPhone - the Passport appeals to a completely different kind of customer group. I myself would like to have one in my hands right now, but I can certainly wait weeks if I have to until Amazon ships it to me -- for $599.

Edit: Well, I was wrong. Somebody did buy that one for $799. And a few of the ones for $849 seem to be selling as well.
