Is there any way to output 16x9 video over HDMI to a TV?

Playing video to a passport is not very satisfactory when it is displayed in a 1x1 Window within a 16x9 TV screen.

    You need a Slimport adapter:

If you're talking about watching a video on the TV when using Slimport, you just need to go to fullscreen on the video on your Passport and it should automatically become 16x9 ratio video on the TV, fitting it properly.

I don't have the adapter yet,but if it is like the Q10, you need to connect the HDMI then select the three dot menu and choose play on the connected device. It will then go to the resolution and aspect ratio of the video.

The play on feature is not available in the browser. Just in the video app and probably other apps coded for it like doc to go and a powerpoint.

I'm having the same issue; I have a slimport adapter but the video does not stretch to fit the TV screen no matter what screen size I set on my Passport.

You can do it for videos with the slimport adapter by pressing the three dot side menu on the PP screen and following the submenu options.

You can do it for powerpoint presentations. too.

However, you cannot do it if you livestream a tv program with flash in the browser. For that, Z30, Z10 and the Playbook are the only solutions, as far as I can see.

BlackBerry should fix this in the next software release.
Being able to mirror a live TV show to a large screen monitor in HD with the 16:9 aspect ratio was one of the key differentiators of the Z10, Z30 and the Playbook.
The main reason why I still use my Playbook every day and no Ipad can replace it!

He means "play on". It's the icon with a square and another smaller square with a play icon.

Use it, and content becomes full screen and you can even do something else on the passport while video plays on the screen.

I cannot find that "play on" feature anywhere on the video player. Am I missing something?

Sorry, I know this is an old thread.

NM, I have always opened video files with the File Manager and that "Play on" feature is not enabled that route. Found it when I used Video.
