So I was searching for a basic stand, then saw ones with USB to charge the phone as well... then I saw this for $30

It looks like a Micro USB charger but it says that it does HDMI out and it also has a couple usb ports to attach some devices. I have ordered an adapter from that company before and it worked perfectly. Would this work with the Passport? There is no audio out, so that may be a bit of a downer for music, but if the HDMI works than that is pretty awesome.

What do you guys think?

In theory, if this works we wont need to buy an slimport hdmi cable... so you can use that $30 to buy this and get the both of best worlds.

That would probably work to charge it, however it won't do HDMI or activate the usb ports... That dock is for a Samsung Galaxy and Samsung uses MHL on their devices, where the PassPort uses SlimPort. If you found a slimport version, it would charge and do HDMI, but the USB host functionality would be disabled / not available.

That dock is for use with MHL connection of the note2 or galaxy s4. The Passport uses slimport.

When I put the Passport on the dock it does not recognize that it is connected to a charger, so no OTG or hdmi either.

Actually wait I take that back, the one you posted may be different. I have one identical to that but made by Samsung. Yours doesn't say Samsung, so it may be different.

DAMN i didnt even think that the MHL in the name was for that, i was thinking it was part of the product code. So we need a specified Slimport Adapter? Do any other phones use that?

That's what I was thinking. For 30 with hdmi and two USB that's not bad. But if you have to buy a few slimports to mod it than it might be worth the wait. I can get a charging dock like that for $10 on amazon
