I'm not sure if it's just me, but as much as I want to love my new Passport, I am really struggling with the keyboard.

I picked up my Nokia 1520 and felt like I had been set free! I don't know why that is. It is almost like the advantages of the size of the device-huge gorgeous screen, etc. has made for a keyboard with unnaturally long reaches for the thumbs.

How long did it take you guys to get up to speed with your Passport keyboard? Are you now faster than you were on older BlackBerry devices?

    Thanks!

I came from the all touch Z10. Prior to the Z10 I had both the Torch 9800 and 9810 slider phones. I mention this because it took me quite a while to get used to the light Z10 and to be able to type rapidly and comfortably. Moving from the Z10 to the Passport has been no problem whatsoever. The only thing I do find is that I tend to flick words less on the Passport due to not looking above the keyboard. Other than breaking in the keyboard, I feel I am as fast and certainly more accurate in typing than I was on the Z10.

Came from a z10. Had a few qwerty os7 devices in the past. Took me about 2 months to really fly on the Passport's keyboard.

A couple of hours. Just had to get my muscle memory set right. My left thumb doesn't pass these two letters g t and my right thumb doesn't pass these two h y. Space bar is used with both thumbs depending on which thumb is closer to it lol.

What is that?! That my friend is my BlackBerry Passport.

It took me a while, coming from a touch screen device. I'm still a terrible typist so speed is not as important for me as accuracy. I'm much, much more accurate on my Passport. Speed wise I'm better too, but that's only partly due to familiarity. It's also due to the fact that I'm not making as many corrections as I was with my previous device. I'd hang in there as the Passport is well worth it.

Coming from Z10, about 4 days to get back to 9810 speed. Although over three weeks later still struggling to make myself use the word suggestions with flicking.

Took me over a week to get used to the passport. I still struggle flicking some of the words up. I dislike the virtual number keyboard. Overall those small dislike are not enough to send me back to a full Z10 touch screen nor the Q10. The Passport is my favorite phone to date.

I bet that Android keyboard finger dragging word prediction would be ideal. It would make the phone a little more one handed friendly.

I felt like I was starting to get used to it after about 10 minutes with it in the store. I don't have a pp. Been on Q10 for 19 months and a bunch of older bb's over the years. The spacebar placement seemed really strange at first but didn't take long to seem normal.

I've been using my Passport since Monday. I came from a Q10, 9930, 9000. So, I'm feeling like it's gonna take me a while to get used to the layout on the PP. I love the phone, though. I'm going to make it work, even if my typing speed is reduced for a while.

I got my Passport just last week. It takes a good 2-3 years to learn the basics of the keyboard. It's not too bad though, I learned it within 4 years and I just got it. Don't worry!

I've had my passport for about 8 months and it took about a month to fully get use to it. Now I can type pretty good without looking at the keys.

My personal experience: was never fully proficient on the original Passport, the design inhibits true touch typing. AT&T Passport solved the issues with better keyboard and better ergonomics (bigger chin). I fly on the AT&T Passport keyboard, was so-so with lots of mistakes on the original.

I'll be going back to the original soon, so I'm curious to see if my typing suffers.

Just work at your own speed. Eventually you'll be flying across the keys. Don't try to force yourself, that will only increase your frustration.

I've only had my phone for a week and a half, but my speed and accuracy is getting better.

I came from the Q10 about 3 months ago, and to be honest, the learning curve for me was pretty steep. I have small hands and was used to a more narrow device by that point. I've sped up quite a bit by now but I'm mainly only proficient when writing in short bursts, rather than long drawn out paragraphs. For those instances, the suggested words are a lifesaver!
