I was getting so excited again reading through the specs until I got to NON-REMOVABLE battery. That just always brings me down.

Not surprised there is no removable battery. There was never any indication there would be and just looking at the design I can't imagine how it would be installed.

You must be a Z10 user. My z30 lasts me all day and I use it alot. Could care less that the battery isn't removeable. The rare time I need a charge I make sure I have a charger at work and in the car. Considering the passport has the biggest battery in the market it won't be a problem.

Do people actually use the FM radio? I can understand the use case, but it doesn't seem practical to add it in when so few would benefit.

ToF seems to be what powers things like Kinect. How this will be used has me curious. The most logical thing would be camera focusing. But would be even cooler if we could control the phone by using hand gestures.

Yes you are correct. I wikipedia'd it to get a full understanding.
    Human-machine interfaces and gaming
As time-of-flight cameras provide distance images in real time, it is easy to track movements of humans. This allows new interactions with consumer devices such as televisions. Another topic is to use this type of cameras to interact with games on video game consoles. The second-generation Kinect sensor which is a standard component of the Xbox One console uses a time-of-flight camera for its range imaging, enabling natural user interfaces and gaming applications using computer vision and gesture recognition techniques. Creative and Intel also provide a similar type of interactive gesture time-of-flight camera for gaming, the Senz3D based on the DepthSense 325 camera of Softkinetic. Infineon and pmdtechnologies enable tiny integrated 3D depth cameras for close-range gesture control of consumer devices like all-in-one PCs and laptops

Anyone know of practical examples for use on a smartphone? Is this for gestures through the camera? Where is BlackBerry headed with this?

    IMHO:
backside illumination, is something similar what Sharp Aquos Crystal advertised - - it should be used as "night shot" when it brightens the background and the subject. (start at 2:41)

    blackbird maybe a brand name?
