Does anyone run a Passport on a AT&T prepaid plan. I was in Walgreens when I saw that AT&T has sim cards hanging on the wall with all the other prepaid phones. Could I use that prepaid sim on a Passport? I would like to do that. That way I can control the cost. I am not a heavy data user because I am on WiFi all day long. I got my passport to have as a third line. I have a business and my office line is forwarded to my cell. So when the line my Z10 is on rings I know it is a business call or somebody trying to sell me something for my business and not pick it up when I am not working. Like on Sunday when we gob to the beach I will leave the z at home and take my passport with me so I am not bothered buy Google calling me telling me about how I can be at the top of the page (I am already at the top of the page). I just need that separation from work and home life. So I don't want to pay too much for cell service and t-mobile around here sucks ****. I am on Verizon but I can't put my Passport on VZW. So I may try that AT&T prepaid card.

Thanks. But if I may ask. How do you know? I'm not being smart. Lol. I really want to know. I looked up AT&T website about the cards and the pp is not in the list of supported devices. Just the z10 and q10 I think. I need full LTE coverage as well when in not around WiFi.

All you need is the correct SIM card. Carriers could care less what device you use as long as you pay.

    And as long as your SIM cards' network band falls on the following frequencies i.e. FD-LTE 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20 (2100/1900/1800/1700/850/2600/900/700/700/800 MHz) HSPA+ 1, 2, 4, 5/6, 8 (2100/1900/1700/850/900 MHz) Quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), you'll be OK...

Yes it will definitely work. Had issues in September with the Passport launch switching from Verizon and I had put a freeze on my credit since my wallet was stolen with ID/SS card/BirthCert (I know stupid), but the point is the nano-SIM will no doubt work as mine did while I called the credit bureaus and had to answer a few personal questions for them to allow AT&T to put me on post-paid.

Yes, you can use a prepaid sim but there are some caveats. If the phone is 'locked' to a certain carrier you won't be able to put in another carrier's sim and have it work unless you get the phone unlocked.

Secondly, unless you purchased an unlocked phone outright from Amazon or Blackberry, you are most likely on a 2 year contract with ATT; therefore it does not make any sense to use a prepaid sim because you will still have to pay the contracted rate anyhow.

Not necessarily. If you use a locked phone for a carrier that functions off the same network, it could work. I've done so using a locked T-Mobile phone for Simple Mobile. Not sure if it's the same for all phones/networks, but it IS possible only if it's not blacklisted, of course.

You may have to play around with the APN settings to get MLS and Internet going, I don't have the info for that but it's a common easy problem to solve

Your device is fine for AT&T prepaid or postpaid. It is unlocked and has all the bands you need. Just needs the SIM card.

I use my Passport on Consumer Cellular. It works great and the cost is much lower than AT&T, but uses the AT&T towers.

Their plans are flexible and there is no contract.

At least you are up and running! Interesting that you are now on both Verizon and AT&T. I switched to AT&T for the Passport and had given my previous Z10 to my sister then gave her the Z30. Left unlimited data from them to.

Now I have all GSM phones from shopblackberry which is actually nice. Always off-contract and not waiting for updates. I've noticed, at least in my area, I still always get full LTE except in the building where I work. So coverage has been about the same for me.

You no longer need the BIS or BES plans to use a BB10 device. Any SIM card that connects you to the Internet, whose network is compatible with your device (i.e., type, frequencies, class), will work. So yes, you can use those prepaid SIM cards with a BlackBerry Passport.

Caveat emptor: there might be a few kinks you'll face if UMA/GAN/Wi-Fi calling gets implemented by AT&T if your device wasn't specifically manufactured for AT&T.

No problems with my Passport on Cricket (which uses AT&T's towers). $35/mo for 3GB of data and unlimited talk/text.

If you can't do it on the menu, you might have to do it using escreens
