Sony is committed to the 6 month cycle but I dont see this needed. The z3 isnt an upgrade to the z2 but if you dont have the z2 then the z3 its a great option of course. BUT in 2014 you need a 1 year cycle for sure. BB is getting caught in this right now with no upgrade for the z10. Heck its been over 1.5 years since its release and almost 1 year for the z30. The people who are on those 2 year contracts have early upgrades expiring right now and there isnt anything even on the horizon for them really.
Am I the only one who realizes that the Z30 is the upgrade to the Z10?

its not really. Its much bigger and only a couple months older than the z10. its like saying the samsung note 4 replaces the S5. Ooh and its only on 1 carrier in the US.

My thoughts exactly. The Z30 was never meant as a Z10 successor.

But it's sonewhat noteworthy to see many folks even here on CB seeing it as a Z10 successor and Z10 users "upgrading" to it. It simply hints at the fact that there are hardly distinct markets for "smaller handy phones" and "big media phones". People see obviously see it as the same, the bigger phone just being the better. I for one instead chose the Z10 consciously for its form factor, knowing the Z30 (with its specs) being already in the pipeline. For me the Z30 was catering to a different user group.

Comparing the Note 4 with the Passport, the devices are quite similar spec-wise. The biggest difference is the OS and whether you prefer a 16:9 aspect ratio 5.7" full touchscreen with stylus, or a 1:1 aspect ratio 4.5" touchscreen with a touch capacitive keyboard. With the specs we've seen on the Passport, it will feel quite comfortable along side the other high end phablet devices. The only thing that could make it better is also releasing a full touchscreen variant of the Passport for those who don't want a keyboard and want more screen real estate.
