    Was reading the android on BlackBerry forums and someone mentioned that the passport camera was the same was the G3's?

    Is this true?

    I didn't think they were as I own both and the G3 takes incredible photos while the BlackBerry are decent but the same.

    The specs are fairly similar - 13MP with Optical Image Stabilization. But that doesn't guarantee that the sensors and OIS hardware aren't actually different, although I'd wager they're the same. However, they also have different optics (Passport lens has an f2.0 aperture, G3 is f2.4), the G3 packs laser autofocus, and the G3 can shoot 4K video.

    Pretty much this

    My guess is, that the mediocre performance compared to the G3, is due to the way BlackBerry handled software processing on BB10

    Exactly.
    There are 3 main factors for image quality in any digital camera: lens, sensor, and processing

    The lens may be worst than G3, or the sensor is not as good, or, most probably, the
    software/processing is crap.

    I hope BB gets some good imaging engineers in the futur...

    As I recall sensors are same, Sony imx135. Differences may be in following few things: different lenses and different image processing.
    Passports camera has potential, but camera app is crap

    Use Camera++ from BlackBerry World.

    I have both and it appears to me that the cameras are a lot different, namely with the focus speed and shutter times. Also the G3 has only the most basic options. The colors are pretty different too. Seems like the BlackBerry has more saturation but the G3 has pretty accurate color representation. Perhaps that is due to the 4k screen.
