Anyone else who remembers the 7290 (7250 on CDMA), the truly "classic" Blackberry with the scroll wheel, and which - I think - coined the term "Crackberry". Just realized that Passport actually brings back a lot of the same "short and wide" form factor. The 7290 was slightly shorter (113 mm) and slightly less wide (75 mm), but way thicker (23 mm), bringing its volume to 193 cm3, compared to Passports 107 cm3. So judging from volume, the Passport may not feel so bulky in the hand after all. And at the time, the 7290 was also a lot wider than other phones on the market.

I am getting the Passport, but agree with those who would like to see it slightly less wide. But I would love to see them produce a "Passport Mini" with a 4 inch screen (still HUGE for a qwerty phone), since this would bring the total physical dimensions down to a slim version of the form factor that initially made Blackberry great.

With Passport, Blackberry is going back to its roots..-blackberry-7290.jpg

Yup. That's kind of sort of part of their marketing for the device as well.

I see your point, but I was thinking more in terms of producing a device for users who read and write, process information, and communicate on while mobile.

the passport will make its breakthrough, don't make another "mini" passport please BBRY, please just keep this form factor so this phone will stand out like what it is, don't go the S*****g way.

Can't wait for your coming, BB Passport!!

It's the feeling when you saw someone with the earlier palm, Motorola, windows, etc. You thought wow that what success looks like...
