    Hi crackberry nation,

Since day one I have this greasy spot on the back cover of my passport? I don't know what it is but it looks not normal. Does anybody know how I can get rid of it? And does any passport user has this same issue or am I the only one?

Is it a stain or a bulge? If just a stain, put a protective case on it, if an actual bulge, consider calling BlackBerry.

I think you're thinking of Bla1ze mentioning his thumb rubbing a little bit of the finish off - this looks totally different.

OP, it looks like the phone was set in water (or grease/something liquid) and it stained/damaged the back cover. If it came like that, I'd take it back to the store and ask for an exchange. I'm assuming you didn't get it in the mail?

Hard to tell by the pics but it looks similar to the review pic. I've seen a number of threads talking about a blocky smudge near the logo on the back after using it for a while.

Yes, have the same from day 2.
I think that has something to do with the adhesive used to glue the BlackBerry logo on the back .
Is getting worst from the grease of the fingers when using the phone, however I clean daily with a soft textile and doesn't look very bad.

In another thread a few people said that they were able to remove it by using a household cleaner; they didn't say which one though. If it wasn't already there when you purchased it, it's probably from the oil on your skin rubbing off.

It's a manufacturing defect that is common with all Passports.

You may not see it immediately, but just exhale slowly on the back (as if you were trying to clean your glasses), and the humidity will make it readily apparent.

It was theorized to be either adhesive from a protective film placed on top of the BlackBerry symbol after manufacturing, or something to do with the thermal curing process involved with molding the BlackBerry symbol onto the back material.

Hardly noticeable, especially with a hard shell on... lol

Hopefully later batches no longer have this purely cosmetic issue.

Same issue here, covered it with a leather skin so it's no longer visible lol, downside is that you can't see the logo anymore.

Insightful. This is exactly along the lines I was thinking as well. I too noticed that you can exhale slowly on the back and it will cause the "stain" to appear. I'm putting a full body skin on the phone anyway so it will keep this issue in factory state

Had the same issue. That stain or whatever it was went away once I cleaned it with BlackBerry cloth. Came back within moments of handling the phone.

I ended up returning that phone for other reasons. New phone I didn't take the protective back off and put it straight into a hard case.

I never noticed it since I put a CF wrap on it after a few days of use. Once this skin wears out or starts peeling I'll probably get a leather skin for it like that zagg one posted(where did you get it?)...except black of course .

Not ALL passports. I got mine the day after launch and it has no sign of any discoloration or contamination of any sort around the BlackBerry logo on the back.
