I already feared so as the Q10 and Z10 are not available from Optus anymore

However - do Telstra still offer BlackBerry? When searching their site, you get some results but the offered links are all dead.

So it looks like Australian BB users need to buy the device ... bugger ...

They don't sell phones on their website but to businesses . They still do support OS 10 software updates.

You can join your interest for the next devices here:

Ah ok - thanks. Let's hope that they will also offer the classic. Then the question would be: what's cheaper? Optus + outright phone or Telstra...

I'll be asking both Optus and Telstra for the phone when the passport is available, and whoever has the phone gets the business.

Looking at the leaked Timeline from N4BB the Z30 is phased out by the Passport. Understand why they could be hard get or not in stock.

If they don't stock will just have to buy outright and down load leaked OS updates :-)

You need to get active on such forums to show Optus and Telstra that consumers want these phones as well. OP, you'll notice on that thread that another user has helped 'Nico' out in showing the interest. The interest will show management that it is worth their while stocking BlackBerry devices for consumers, not just business. My wife is in need of a new phone but since you can't get a BlackBerry phone from any Aussie carrier, it's either buy outright (which we can't afford) or move away from BlackBerry. Not an option!

Totally agree I actually have something far bigger in mind BlackBerry is being destroyed in Aus. Mist tell on staff have no idea about he product and there are a few other things but cannot say at the moment. I would appreciate everyone's feedback here hence posting on CB

    Thanks and keep it coming

Done - let's hope for the best. Although I fear that BlackBerry is a too small niche in the small Aussie mobile phone market

Then I'll be forced to buy it outright.

My contact within Blackberry Aus has mentioned that it will be in Australia in October, but he had no retail information.

I'd buy it direct online if available, but the extended warranty / local support is preferred. Want always interferes with need... I'm also used to buying outright, unlocked so carrier support is not my concern.

Thought Australia was the only market that grew BlackBerry's market share last year?

BlackBerry store Australia would be a good thing, maybe with monthly payments...???

I believe I read that blackberry had a 6% market share a while back, so it's very strange that Harvey Norman only stocks one model

The BB store is a great concept it provides the back up support the cell phone users now receive through the apple store.
Additionally there needs to be better training and understanding of the power of BB10 many retailers have no idea about the functionality of the OS.

Keep the ideas coming team we want our BB's

@andre I dont think it is that high i noticed a reduction in the stats i was following. Lets put it this way... How many BB's have you seen in the wild?

I have seen apart from the ones my company has 3 and I have spoken to each of those users they are shocked at first but its great to find out why they chose a BB.

I've seen a few BB10 devices. Some in the hands of people I've recommended it to. I think that BB's market share swell is mostly business. That's why providers are only interested in offering BB on Business plans. If that's the case this time around, I'm certainly going to be asking the CEO if I can use our ABN to upgrade to the Passport. Keep spreading the word people. Thankfully our nation is obsessed with American celebrities. Security, security, security.

I hope that time line is wrong, or somewhat inaccurate, and Z30 continues along with Passport .... they are not the same in so many ways.
