Just got back from a concert with some friends.

I know this phone is supposed to be on the business side and there is no time for selfies but I tried to get some nice Selfie pictures and to enjoy the great camera but I couldn't get any good results.

First of all its pretty hard to get a sharp picture as a Selfie when trying to take the picture with the rear camera as it takes time for it to focus and I can't see the screen. Any suggestions for these type of pictures? And is there any tips for good pictures at a dark place? I mean is there any special settings I should play with?

We're gonna need more information from you such as the OS you are running etc because there have been reported fixes to the camera app from 10.3.0 to 10.3.1...

Try the timer, helps give the cam time to refocus after the button press

Install camera++ and mess with the settings if you know what you are doing. And check the camera++ thread for tips and other things.

Maybe you are not really skilled in taking selfies

Keep in mind you can also use the spacebar, and the volume buttons to take photos, that will help with hand placement.

Also in the options there is a night mode that's helps you a bit.

That front facing camera has its moments. After I take one I have to literally edit it in the picture editor and sometimes even add another layer to make it look legit. Hopefully it can be updated like the camera in the back was.

I disagree entirely. Great device for selfies.

The front camera on all BB10 devices is a 2mp shooter. It's not the most amazing sensor in the market, but its not bad.

It's the same sensor they've been using since the Z10. It's still pretty good so they kept using it, by now it should be cheap to produce and keep using.

At the time there was only one phone with a bigger front shooter, I believe it was a newer samsung with a 2.1mp front camera.

Now there are a few more, but still 2mp and above is still pretty rare.

So actually, the BB10 devices are not bad for selfies.

The rear camera sensors are good too, Blackberry picks quality parts, but their failing in the camera area is really the software. They could use a good optics team to get it together, unfortunately with their enterprise focus, it's doubtful they'll bother.

Try to do HDR using front camera. In general front camera resolution and quality sucks. See the comparison :

Yup, far from the best tbh. I noticed the framerate was better when the front camera is set to 16:9 ratio
