Have a look at navfree's website to see how they plan to make money. Its all about gathering data from you to then advertise to you. I would prefer a paid for service given the choice...
Yes! Offline nav but need to access and modify our contact list? No way!

I just took it for a test run and it was a disaster, asking for a route caused the app to close. Had restored z10 backup to passport, so deleted the app and installed from bbw. Works now, but was 15 minutes late for an appointment. Fortunately, nobody cares when I am late.

Is it just me or does it only let you download one map?

I tried it for about a week, here in Quebec! First time, worked perfectly, very fast to recalculate your route!
And then, well... That's not gone well!
I couldn't choose where I wanted to go, and the route planned took a 45kms detour...
It made me go around in circles on the motorway! Exiting, then entering the other way, then ... well you know!
Otherwise, the UI is pretty neat! It's clear! Easy to find what you need!
So far, the best nav app is Blackberry Maps! Then Mireo!

I uninstalled Navfree yesterday. Tried it for the first time and it took me on a crazy route then I realized the final destination was not even close to the address I entered. Their address search is not good.

I have used both and NavFree is junk. First, it rarely even works to look up an address in offline mode.
    It often gives bad routes.
It will not default to north up.

So many issues. I have been meaning to write a review but haven't yet.

I keep a cheap Lunia around just for navigation

I have used NavFree for awhile now and have no problem with it. Takes a bit to find your way around it, but otherwise it's a great app.

Typing in a house number in North America doesn't work. All it can do is to locate the street name. My use of offline mapping has been mostly restricted to places where there is no signal, like the Grand Canyon. My recommendations for free native mapping apps are:
    Turn by turn: BlackBerry Maps
POI lookup (e.g., restaurants): Google Maps via the browser
Places with no cell service: Navfree

    Hi to all,

I'm new here and new with Q10 ;-)
Navfree works ok (looks like) but one issue is with contacts - if I tap address at contact Q10 open BBM (Blackberry Maps).
I have BBM with no access to contacts and/or other services and Navfree has access.
Maybe someone knows how to avoid this issue?

The map is too big to put it on hand internal memory. How can I download it to SD card instead? Thanks.

Not 100% sure, but when first map to download NF ask where to store.
And got to be active NF access to "share files" - correct me if I wrong.

Just found all maps on device not on SD :-(

But I have about 10Gb free space on device and about 300Mb now with maps downloaded.
In case I will need some extra country it's just to download and use (and erase if not needed)

Navfree is easily the best thing after Here maps, only issue ive faced with it is that the search function(when offline not when its connected to the internet) doesnt work as well as Here's offline search
add in better offline search and we have ourselves a cross platform winner(I use it on my ipad and Z10 most of the time)

My version on my Z10 remembers last recent address, and allows me to save home address, it is a great sat navigation, use it for work
