I've changed my Passport email from POP3 to IMAP (using a 1&1 uk account). If an email is delivered while I'm using Outlook on my laptop, it correctly appears once in my Outlook inbox but about 30 unread copies of it arrive in my hub on the passport. It all seems to sort itself out about 10 minutes later and they disappear again. Is there some setting I can change to prevent this happening? I've got push set to 'yes' and time sync set to manual.

Is your account setup for IMAP in it's settings, not the phone? Try to delete the account on the phone and then re add it.

Hi, both are set for IMAP. I'll try deleting on the phone and adding again and see if it makes a difference.

Hmm.. that doesn't seem to have made a difference. I'll have a play around and see what triggers the problem - whether it's dependent on which m/c I read the email on first. Maybe there's something quirky about the 1&1 server settings.

Are you automatically copying your emails to another folder in your inbox? If so, that's may be the issue. Tweak on the email client side.

Refresh your Hub by swiping from upper right corner toward the centre of your screen 5 times (I do it continuously without counting until it happens) and the hub restarts. If the issue is solved, well done. If not, verify in Settings/Accounts, if the account itself is not saved 2 times once as IMAP and the other as POP3 and get rid of the duplicate, then restart phone again.

Tried refreshing the hub - thx for the info on how to do that - I'm learning new things all the time about the Passport. That didn't work and I've only got one copy of the account on the phone.
Interestingly, the last email received on the Passport I read and then checked on the 1&1 webmail - it wasn't showing as 'read' so I did a couple of refreshes on the server until it did. Opened Outlook and the email downloaded (as read) and I didn't get the extra 'unread' copies in the Hub, so it seems as though it's a bit of a timing issue and the 1&1 server isn't flagging the emails as 'read' when I read them from the Passport. I'll have to do a bit more testing and see if it's a time thing or if they never get flagged when read from the Passport.

Does a security suite (or another app) changes the email within Outlook? If it is so Outlook syncs the mail to the server and the BB maybe thinks its a new message? Just an idea...

I suppose that's a possibility, but I'm not going to switch my anti-virus off.
It seems to be OK when I read the mail first on the Passport & allow the server enough time to realise it's been read, but if I read it first in Outlook it's a problem. I've just received an email, replied to it & forwarded it from outlook without touching the Passport. There were 90 unread copies in the Hub by the time I'd finished - they all disappeared again about 5 minutes later and just the read copy and the reply were showing (my sync interval is set to 5 minutes). So it doesn't seem to be causing any permanent problem, it's just annoying. I'm trying to see what happens if I switch push off on the Passport and set the sync time to manual while I'm working with Outlook on the laptop.

What @ account are you using?

You could try set up another imap account to be clear if it is an account issue... if this one works you should ask 1&1 to have a look at the log files.

I'll have a go at that, thanks - do you mean add another email account to the 1&1 domain + another outlook user + another account on the passport?

Hi, I followed similar instructions - main difference seems to be that I used SSL security (as per the 1&1.uk site)

If you have another 1&1 account I would try with the same "environment" (set up the other account in Outlook and BB). Then youll see if you get the same issue.

Hi Guys, Thx for all your help - I'm getting in touch with 1&1 to see if they can throw any light on it. I'll let you know how I get on.

Well, that's been a fun couple of days. I removed the imap account from outlook and from the passport & added them back - no change, still getting lots of copies of emails in the hub. Set up a new profile in outlook & a new imap account. Still no change. As a controlled check I added an outlook.com imap account to outlook and to the passport - that works perfectly!
I called 1&1 - they say that as it works OK in Outlook & their webmail, the problem must be with the passport & they suggest I get in touch with blackberry support and log the problem with them, so that's the next stage. Hope I get this sorted soon...

I never "played" with the options... my outlook.com mail account works flawlessly...
I just added a new account in the phone settings, click on the first icon here, just enter [email protected] and my password. I never changed the options... here's my option window: VPN is inactivated, push activated:

The icon is that of Mail, Contacts, Calendar:

Thanks, Konto - but it's Outlook 2013 I'm having trouble with (not Outlook.com),
