If you press and hold the middle button, it will open up the BlackBerry assistant

If you press the middle button it is used to mute songs or videos that you play.

Activates voice control - but I thought I was able to assign different functions to it with my bold- can't seem to find that option on the Q10

I think it's common knowledge at this point, every phone out there including iOS and Android that has three buttons ( a bunch of them right..?) does the same! :P
All past BlackBerry's have too! But I do agree, that info should be in the manual.

That's the way it used to be on past BlackBerry's pre bb10, unfortunately mappable keys never transferred over!
