Hey passport folks just wanted to see if anyone else was able to get the band to work with the passport. Hopefully some other folks have tried it out.

I was able to get it to work as well as I could. The play by play of how it got sorted out is here: http://forums.crackberry.com/android...-2-1-a-972489/

So far the Band it self works. The application is able to show me the data from it, however it only syncs with my PC. The application does not seem to be able to communicate very well with the device. It fails to connect with the band when it attempts to sync.

I have a fitbit band, it didn't syn when i had os 10.2.1 because the os didn't support low energy bluetooth, with my os 10.3 on my passport now it can sync perfectly, I'm sure the Microsoft band use the same thing, just update your os to 10.3

Thought I would post an update on my experience:
I have yet to get the band to communicate with the passport via bluetooth. The app runs but can not communicate to the band preventing the ability to customize the icons and connected apps. I have been able to get around the sync issue for now.

Overall, I would rather use/see a native BlackBerry 10 app for the band come out to fit into the whole pitch by microsoft that it is truly a cross platform device / application. The android app at least in my case seems to drain my passport battery a lot faster than a native app.

Sorry if this is redundant, but I couldn't find an exact answer to my question in any other thread. Since you can’t get the band to sync with the Android app, does that also mean you aren't getting any of the phone/sms/etc. notifications either?

    That is correct:
None of the notifications are working.

    I have another follow up.

Without the app, how is it working for you? Can you sync the data to the desktop app? I would love one, but am concerned about how much mileage I would get.

Using the desktop app works well with my experience. However the customization that one would want to perform such as the changing of background, tile order, linked/connected apps is not possible with the desktop application.

If the desktop application's limitations are okay with you then it may be worthwhile to get the band.

When the desktop application syncs the default applications installed on the band you can get some decent data out of the band. Such as sleep tracking, steps taken, calories burned, GPS tracking of your run/walk, tracking of how long you have been working out with heart rate information. This is the information that i have been able to sync and have been able to manage with that information.

I have attached some screenshots of the errors you can expect at time of posting when you attempt to use the app to control the band

    Hi All,
Will not connect with 10.3.1.1151. The Health app also fails to load since I updated to 10.3.1.1151 I did delete and reinstall to no avail.
Like before will pair to Z10 but then will not connect again after immediately dropping the connection after pairing.
Pity like the look and functions of the band.
    Regards

    Paul.

any news on this?? I'd be more than happy if the Android version worked... does anyone know of any workarounds for this? I got a MS band as a gift, but I can't pair it to my Z30 (10.3)

Please let us know if it works, I have yet to hear anyone say it works on 10.3...It definitely will not sync/pair on 10.2. I would think the Android runtime (4.2 vs 4.3) is the issue, but who knows.

New version of Band posted Jan 7th...did not help sync issue. There is no way to upgrade the firmware on this thing without having the mobile app sync (desktop will not upgrade firmware at this time). I told MS support that it is ridiculous that you have to have a PHONE to be on the latest release of the firmware. Also, the MS rep said that you have to use a "native" version of Android (although not stated on their website specs) to run Band, so we may be SOL for quite sometime.

No dice connecting my Microsoft Band on mutiple leaked OS's. I'm getting same errors everyone else described. Bluetooth will not stay connected with the band on Passport. The Band pairs then Bluetooth profile reverts back to saved notification. App works fine except doesn't connect which is an issue. Running 10.3.1.1154 with 1949 apps/Android Runtime
