My experience with my PP's battery has not been very pleasant as it's drained quite fast considering I don't have any apps running in the background so I tried pulling my SD card ( a Samsung EVO SDXC 64Gb UHS-1, write speed about 48Mb/s) because I have encountered a micro SD card draining battery in the past. After pulling it out, battery life is much better ?!! I use my Mac to format the SD card to ExFAT because it seems like using my PP to format the card ends up in my Mac refuses to regconize my SD card. I think OS 10.3.0.908 has already supported ExFAT ? Any suggestions on how to fix this problem as I have used this SD card on my Android an WP and nothing seems so be wrong with both my past devices.
    Thank you

I can only think of two things:
    • Try the battery pull equivalent for BB10: hold the top buttom till you see the BB loading scree - ignore all on-screen prompts to lock/reboot/shut down;
    • A factory reset could be in order here.

I have tried pretty much everything. My brother's PP is totally fine on his older Transcend SD card. the PP has a 3450 mAh so I kinda expected more plus my paranoia about battery life does not help also . Will try a reboot and update.

Nothing changes. Anybody knows how much time does the PP need to settle down because with a 3450 mAh battery this is not acceptable

Post a screenshot of your app manager so we can see what's draining your battery.

Go into settings then into device monitor and select the battery tab, hold both vol up and down buttons together till it says on the screen screenshot taken. Then attach it here and we can tell you what is causing your battery drain.

Maybe I should give the phone a couple days to settle down. Anybody has experience on how long this would take?

Let your battery drain to about 20% then charge it fully, do this a few times and hopefully it should re-calibrate the battery. If not then get the phone exchanged.

I easily get a day out of my Passport and I use it all the time. Sometimes I get 2 days out of it.

Have you adjusted brightness on screen? Have you gone thru app permissions in the settings so apps don't run in the background? Have you turned off the setting to send auto diagnostics? As all of these can run battery out.

Thank you very much. I have tried all of those. I'm on 10.3.0.908 so there's no control over what runs in the background. I only have 2 android apps. Ghost Commander a file manager and Uncompresser. Plus CB and Facebook that's it. I don't even use BBM for the sake of finding out why my phone's battery life is not very good. Maybe it needs some time to settle down. Do you know how long this usually take?

So this is my battery usage for the last 2 days. Notice that I unplugged the phone at 7 o'clock yesterday and have been doing some browsing. The browser seems to be consuming a lot of battery life and my phone also gets warm, not hot around the cpu area

Seems to me that you have great battery life if you are at 69% after 24 hours.
My battery never lasts 24 hours, but I use my phone as a laptop.

If you honestly need your battery to last, turn off data services. In my experience the biggest batter hogs are the screen, BBM, email syncing(PIM Services) , Web browsing and apps that use the radio.

With data disabled you get less notifications and therefore check your screen less. It takes care of practically every issue.

I did a test with my Z30 (I know the battery isn't as great as the passport, but it's the best I've used)
I turned off data services, Unplugged at 100%, and let it die. (I still took calls and answered texts)
I was astonished, It went 10days before I put it back on the charger. (and it still had 10% remaining)

If you need your device to last until you can get it to a charger, turn off data.

Turn off data is substantial for preserving battery life. Maybe because I came from a 4000 mAh phone so my expectations or perhaps I'm more used to a 10 hours straight browsing. I will let the battery settle down for a week to see if it gets better

Turn everything off ie use it in flight mode. Or if you want the battery to last forever then don't turn the phone on ;-) lol.

I think it's the memory card. My system memory was running unusually high and I was experiencing excessive battery drain and I couldn't figure out why. Even after a full charge, device monitor would tell me I have eight hours right after taking my device off the charger. I then started deleting apps and moving all user files to my memory card because I was preparing to do a full wipe. I came across this thread and thought maybe I should backup my memory card to my laptop. Couple hours later I formatted the memory card using the passport in settings. Voila restarted my passport and the system cpu usage went down and device monitor is reporting 18 hours left of battery usage. Whatever the issue is I hope it gets fixed in the next update because that was a lot of work but I'm relieved the issue was solved.

Formatting the micro sd card with my passport makes it unrecognizable in my MacBook. Maybe it's just my Mac being an ******* but since I don't have any other laptop so I have to use it to format my sd card to ExFat. I have about 1.3 Gb of RAM being used constantly. I don't know if that is wrong or not but battery life is stable for me as I have just loaded os 10.3.1.2072. Gonna let it settle for a few days before I can tell if the battery life gets better with the new OS as others have suggested
