I have no idea what happened, but the auto focus on my red Passport just doesn't work anymore. I brought it with me on a trip and it's been working great, but then yesterday it just stopped auto focusing.

I can tap around to try and get it to focus, but it's like the lens can't do it anymore.

I never dropped the device or anything.

Does anyone have something similar going on? Or suggestions?

Have you tried a hard reset? Could be just a glitch that's corrected by resetting the phone.

Yeah I forgot to mention that.

I've done the hard reset and regular reset. The problem persists.

'Lost' as in totally lost or on and off?

If you hold the camera button, does it actually adjust the focus?

Do you think there might be something like a dust stuck in the lens? This happened to my DSLR, it keeps focusing on the dust

Watch the video linked in the first post. Maybe yours is doing the same, or maybe the motor died completely. Regardless, send it in for repair. I could not update that thread because it got closed, but my wife's issue was resolved. With some help from BlackBerry management she got an advance exchange and received a new, working Passport. As a bonus, the new unit had less light bleed and the screen fit the frame better too.

There have been a few reports besides mine and yours on CrackBerry of the focus mechanism failing.
