I ma kind of new here, I bought my BB passport 2 weeks ago with a cracked display and repaired it with help of Global Cell Phone Replacement Parts Wholesale Website, ETrade Supply - ETrade Supply and their spare parts. It was fairly easy task and the passport was somewhat cheaper. (Also, I am coming from android, prior to android I had BB 9700 Bold)

As there seems to be a lot of people just sitting here depressed about BB10 OS being dead, lets try a more proactive approach, shall we?

The reason why is started this thread is because I think that this device is great, but is suffering from some vital problems.
I would like to somehow approach those problems, by offering a link to a alternative or workaround to some of those shorcomings or some ideas how to make something work, as aparently this OS is in EOL, but we still want to use it.

Some of mine:

The Problem: I came from android, so I communicate with my friends via hangouts. Gtalk in bbworld is dead for some time and there is no simple way of getting this working again.
The Solution: well except for the more obvious ones, like using some android XMPP application, I found that there indeed is one XMPP client that can be used by hangouts and (this is important for me) can notify you via BB hub. Hg10 by Amonchakai. Sadly, this is not without bugs and seems to be not updated anymore, but I might as well adopt it within the next few months.

The Problem: missing apps/apps requiring google play services
The Solution: I dont think i have to introduce you to cobalt232 solutions for using play store

The Problem: WhatsApp is stopping its support for BB10 OS
The Solution: (not really, but might be the way to it) thereis this guy who already wrote a opensource implementation of whatsapp, but it was removed from the interwebs, because copyrights... But he made an opensource implementation of whatsapp API, that could be used for creating a whatsapp client for BB10 as well.

The Problem: FB app is not an app anymore and does not notify me by the BB hub
The Solution: would be to use the non-free version of Face10 or alternatives, but is feels kind of weird to pay for facebook. And also, no idea how long will the developer support his apps... which is kind of scary as we all know how it feels to be left behind

Some of other problems I could not find workaround or solution for and I would not mind getting a suggestion from anyone who is here longer and might know something more.

• I didnt find any native BB10 video player (quality like the MX player for android, so I am using this one instead)
• I wound't mind an app that would just notify me, in the hub, that I have a hangouts/facebook/skype/... message and I would be happy with the web-based ones. (I might also try to create something like this, but no promises, as I do not have that much time)
• I could not find any apps like runkeeper, mytracs or, the best, google fit.

(Most of my problems would be solved by a seamless implementation of play services with blackberry services (and HUB) so I could be notified by any android app. I hope this will be a surpise in 10.3.3 )

Always great to see someone appreciate my favorite device of all time lol.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your Passport as much as I do.
I use Kalemsoft media player and CascaRun pro. Those might be good for you.
I take my backup Q10 jogging and the CascaRun app works great.
And I use Kalemsoft with the Microsoft Wireless Display adapter to push a bunch of video formats to the big screen.
