What is your experience with Passport keyboard and sprinkles of water? Can it handle it? Does it penetrate easily and make a damage?

I wipe mine down with a wet cloth sometimes to clean it, and there's not been any damage to it, so I'm sure a few sprinkles would be okay.

I spilled some on mine two days ago.

After I wiped it off and tried to shake all the water off, the touch sensitive components were working fine, but clicking on the keys on one corner of the keyboard would register neighboring keys (so surrounding characters would show up).

I turned it back off and let it dry for about half a day. After that everything seems to be back to normal.

So there is definitely internal components of the keyboard that will malfunction (temporarily, if you're lucky) if water gets on them.

With all this antiwater technology other companies have, BlackBerry should have protected it's keyboard better. At least the keyboard.

I would have imagined keyboards could be protected with a very old technique of placing a soft silicone layer over the entire area (with small protrusions or bumps for each key). Like an old Casio calculator. That probably would have added too much thickness and made the keys feel a bit squishy.

A few months back a large amount of water fell on my device and I quickly wiped it all of. The passport worked fine but when I got home I did leave it in rice. Works exactly the same as when I got it so water didn't effect it but it was wiped of within seconds and placed in rice later on. I wouldn't go as far as saying the passport is water resistant but it certainly won't break if a small amount of water lands on it

Tell her to put the devices in the desk and the clothes in the machine!
