    Hi everyone. My wife's Passport came in today from Amazon. She has been using a Q5. Should I use BlackBerry link to switch device or start from scratch? If I do start from scratch, can I use her Same BlackBerry ID on the passport or will cause problems? Thanks in advance.

    Yes. You should use the same BlackBerry id. All of her BBM contacts and apps from blackberry world are tied to her BlackBerry id. It's up to you if you want to use BlackBerry Link, I prefer to start from scratch. If her contacts and calendar are on her email account it's not necessary to use BlackBerry Link, you can sync all of the information from you device .

    I'd say start from scratch...

    I think it's good for productivity to do this anyways. You drop things that have been nagging but don't necessarily need to be done. But that's just me.

    Also, you'll learn more about the features this way.

    Another vote for "from scratch".
    Not sure why, I just like setting things up again

    Use this the same BlackBerry I'D, otherwise you need to pay again for all the apps.
    Starting from scratch makes sense....

    Only start from scratch if her contacts and calendars are synced to an account like gmail/outlook/etc. Worse case you can use an app called contact X to transfer over her contacts manually.

    For the most part you can manually copy and paste all other files on her Q5 using a computer, as well as transfer over things like Password Keeper using the export function.

    Actually I used link to switch everything from my Z30. No issues, no regrets, nothing lost and minimal down time.

    Another option is to try the new Device Switch app from BlackBerry.

    Do what BlackBerry recommends if her current phone works well.

    Device switch, use same BlackBerry id, do all the tutorial steps

    - Start from scratch
    - Use the same BlackBerry ID to retain BBM contacts and app purchases
    - Use the Device Switch app for contacts and other items. Here's a description below from BlackBerry World:

    The Device Switch app provides a fast and easy way to transfer contacts, calendar entries, photosand more from an iPhone, Android or older BlackBerry device to your new BlackBerry 10 smartphone without the need for a PC or Mac.

    Download and run the Device Switch app on your old device and your BlackBerry 10 smartphone, connect them both to the same Wi-Fi network, and follow the on-screen prompts.

    Device Switch transfers the following information:

    * Contacts
    * Calendar
    * Camera photos
    * Camera videos
    * And more depending on the device that you are switching from

    Once your devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, the Device Switch app automatically discovers them. Follow the instructions to connect them and start the transfer. This is an easy way to get you up and running on your new device quickly.

    I didn't have much luck with D.S tool. BlackBerry Link worked perfect.

    I've issues with backups not restoring properly so I started from scratch on my Passport. Everything seems to be working as it should.
