As soon as you can usually after keyboard demo your forced to go through, get into settings > software updates > Options at bottom of page and turn off Auto Update!!!!! Hopefully you'll have software Release 10.3.2.2836, which will give you the last release which has a working BlackBerry Facebook App as well everything works well, you'll be able to install Cobalt and install Androids App directly from Google Play Store. Get sachesi installed on you PC also which allows you to side load APK's.

I think you made a great purchase decision! The passport is a fantastic phone and build so solid

What Passport version did you get? The Silver Edition or the Regular Black on?

To download WhatsApp, you can just download from Blackberry World no need to side load anything.

You can't downgrade, but not having hub support for Facebook is not so bad, plus there are a couple of FB clients available on BB World, so you could see if any of those work out for you. I find the default redirection to the mobile website works OK for myself.

To find your PIN just go into BBM and click on your profile in the top left corner. It should tell you in there.

Don't update Facebook to the latest version and you can keep syncing your fb contacts and calendar etc

Hi there...

Just got my Passport some days ago. Great device so far..as a former Classic user I still have ti get used to the size ;-)

I noticed some inconsistencies with the ability to use the keyboard to swipe/pinch. It happens that - after using an app - the ability to use the keyboard to swipe between homescreens is gone. Only a restart fixes this. Also it's somehow not consistently enabled in the OS, like some setting or the picture app.

It will take some getting used to, especially the fact that the PP encourages (but is not limited to) two-handed use.

For what it's worth, my Passport has been a real pleasure to use and own. I love the look, the feel, and definitely how it always starts a conversation.

Only if you need to run android apps. Only BlackBerry World apps for my SE. All's good.

I'm my humble opinion, no. No GPS. Just get used to what your PP does really well.

From personal experience at least for me it's not worth the headache of setup knowing not all Google apps will work well anyway. For example, Google Translate works perfect, Google Photos, no. You'll also experience some apps lag and force close. Why bother?

I know many here will direct you to Cobalts page and help with set up. I've done all of that and I still have a degraded experience using my PP after all of the tinkering. I do miss a few Google apps but there are adequate substitutions.

Just my opinion.


Ps- while not quite as good as Google Maps, I'm finding Maps.Me (BlackBerry World) a nice alternative.

I stay away from android apps when possible. Blackberry's built in maps app has been the best of the best since it came out what 4, 5, 6 years ago or whatever.

BlackBerry map is very less informed than Google map (10%?) .. no place name in BlackBerry map for India. No bus stop names no ATM/bank names, no petrol pump names
