Obviously we can all see the writing on the wall at this point, any BblackBerry device going forward (for the time being) will be outsourced and will be made with Android OS instead of BlackBerry OS.

So my question is, IF BlackBerry Mobile decided to make an updated Passport one day with Android, what elements would you like to see on it AND do you think that form factor could succeed in today's age?

For instance, would a physical keyboard make sense or would it be best to use a VKB going forward and allow more screen real estate? I personally would still love the PKB (I think the Passport's keyboard is the best ever), but if I would listen to reason since it will be an Android device. They obviously have to think about the bottom line and getting people to actually buy them.

What do you think? Would you buy an updated Passport with Android OS, and if so, what would you like to see changed or kept? Also, could BlackBerry Mobile market it in a day and age where long slender slabs are the norm for devices?

Would love to hear some feedback...

...aren't they making one? Unless you mean a perfectly square screen, which can't happen due to the rules of Android compatibility.

The KEYone is in most ways the direct descendent of the Passport. As thurask stated, due to the roles and regs of Android, there can not be a square screen. That in of itself negates us seeing the Passport form factor making a comeback.

Well, unless BlackBerry decides to include a wristband for this proposed Android Passport, hence the non-watch clause, this will never happen.

Sadly, we will not see a "passport 2" anytime in the future. To keep the passport keyboard and current form factor with a taller screen may be too unwieldy.

Thanks for the info, I honestly didn't know a the square format was a no-no in Android. I guess that answers it then.

The screen could go to a 3:2 ratio to be compatible

Which would unfortunately make it the size of a shoe box...

The KEYone is 3:2 already (1680x1050).

The height of the device would be crazy if it was the width of the Passport and had to have 4:3 or 3:2 screen ratio. It would be the size of a 6" tablet.

I think they are asking for a Playbook 2 with a Keyboard then. Hahaha.
