BlackBerry is no more, to make a phone you need hardware and software, Mercury's hardware will be made by TLC, its software will be stock Android with that poor stunt called DTEK - want a BlackBerry? buy a Passport
BlackBerry Android is a lot more than the DTEK app. Don't be silly.

So by that logic every single Android OEM doesn't truly "make" a phone since Android is Google's software.

And since Foxconn is Apple's OEM then they don't make anything either.

    You're right!
Given that I used every phone and every os, Samsung s6, Iphone 5/5s/6/6plus and Blackberry (8520, 8530, 8900, Torch 9800, curve 9350, bold touch 9900, Q5, Z10, Z30, currently a Passport silver edition my main phone...)
I have to say only one thing, with the Bb os10 i can do everything that I can do with others os and more...and even more simply! If you don't think so it's only because you're not able to make the most of it's full potentiality. Another thing is the future of this georgeus os...that the parent company has guiltily slowed its development up to the dramatic and ridiculous choice of switching to Android, hoping to make it safer than the Owner one... and this attempt is still a big question today....
So good TCL+android phones for you...BUT NOT FOR ME! The quality is not ded yet....

Are you a prophet? The phone is still in alpha and you know what the UX is like?

It will be exactly like the priv with the physical keyboard out permanently and smaller screen.

    Watch my prophecy come true!

If iOS is 1 and Android is 10 on the tweakability scale, BB10 would be about a 3.

    My standard response:

Do children use MSOffice, or VMWare, or Citrix, or SAP, or MobilIron, or banking apps, or business collaboration tools, or advanced vpn software, or instant messaging apps, or social media, or business travel hotel apps, or specialised medical monitoring apps, or mobile payment systems, or.........

Wierdly, our local public broadcasting station's childrens programming group (TVO Kids) used to be a big BlackBerry supporter. They were always talking about accessing their online content via Playbooks. It stuck in my head because nobody else seemed to support the Playbook like that.

And also, with the "tweakability" of Android (or any OS in that case), it comes inestability, vulnerability risks, etc... Is kind of a rule, if you touch and modify things, chances of screwing up rise.
