Yes. I accepted to sync contacts. But nothing has synced yet. Pls knw that I'm talking about contacts that has been created in my device before setting gmail. May be from nowonwards it will save new adding contacts to local as well as gmail. But is thr a way to sync the already existing device contacts to gmail?

You might need to select them all and copy them to your Gmail account.

@w_scot: I tried that too. But there is no option to copy to 'gmail' . It shows only 'local contacts'. One more thing what I have noticed is that, when I try to add a new contact, the "save to" is inactive and it shows local contacts only. No gmail option.

Look under Settings>Accounts for this account's entry. What does it say under the email address?

It should look something like this:

    Gmail Account
    [email protected]
    Email, Calendar, Contacts

You're not syncing Google contacts or calendars. That's why you don't see an entry for Gmail contacts.

Setup a CardDAV (for Contact sync) account and use google.com for the server address.

Setup a CalDAV account (for Calendar sync) and use goggle.com for the server address. (This isn't needed for contacts but I'm tossing it in for the sake of completeness)

Then you can edit and copy local contacts to Google from your BlackBerry.

SOLVED.Thanks to everyone (especially jerry and sathya). Previously it wasn't configured properly. I deleted and reconfigured gmail again. But it took me few tries to configure completely.may be a problem with the server. Now it shows email, calander and contacts.

Not completely solved. I had around 80 contacts in my device even before gmail account was configured. Now even after configured gmail, when I open my gmail account, it doesn't show any contacts which was supposed to be synced when I configured gmail. Does it take few hours or should it sync instantaneously when I configured gmail? Pls see the attached....
Does it mean it had synced all existing device contacts to gmail? If so, then why no contacts has been synced till now to gmail account?

Contacts only sync with their respective services. Local contacts don't sync anywhere.

You need to manually copy each contact to Google.

I have tried to copy each contact manually by option " copy to". But the local contacts and gmail are already seems to be checked. But then also I have hit "done". Made contacts sync intervel to 5 min. I don't see a single contact synced to gmail account. Pls see the attached....

Try unchecking Local (only Gmail should be checked) and then save.

If that doesn't work you may need to do this the old-fashioned way - find a program to export local contacts as CSV and then import into Gmail via web interface.

Your username should be your Gmail address as well. Please don't open a new thread regarding the same topic. And/or backup your local contacts then add the file to Gmail http://appworld.blackberry.com/webst...ntent/37102894

delete your acccount, restart your phone, then when you add your gmail account make sure you check off contacts, calendar. Once that is set up click the upper right corner to manually sync and your should have it all updated. Next go to your contacts and make sure you have your gmail contacts checked as you can also choose what contacts list to be able to see.

Why don't you delete the gmail address. Restart your phone, go to setting and add a Google account, new process. Go through the setting and make sure, email, calendar, contacts is marked on just before you sit save when adding the account at the end of the process
