I live in Brazil. Here, the importation taxes can be insane (if they get your product, of course). As I am really interested on the Passport and see several people ordering online in the past few weeks, I would like to know how much USD are you spending to order the device online. So, I will compare and see if it's worth to order one at this moment.

    Thks!

I bought one from Amazon at $599.99 on launch day, and another one from shopbb using that crazy 25% off coupon code for $476.21 (but you probably won't find that again any time soon).

I wish I could send a Passport to my dad, he lives in Rio,.. but just don't feel comfortable doing it.

Nice. Including taxes? This is my real concern about buying from Brazil.

Yup. Well, the Amazon order didn't charge taxes because they don't have a warehouse in the state I live in (that's another story). Shop BlackBerry did charge taxes, but that was included in the price I gave you above.

In Brazil, we have a big problem: thief government will charge you in 60% in almost every imported product. This is why import price can be insane here. They are greedy and want to take a piece of everything.

I bought mine from eBay for 450. Also consider such unofficial channels as long as they seem genuine from a reliable seller. If you do buy one from an independent seller online, you can request them to write the remark as "Gift" on the export label or packaging as the custom officials are less likely to open the packages marked as a gift and charge heavy duties.

This actually red flags items in some countries and then they will come up with their own market value can be risky

I hear ya. Don't they give you like a $500 duty-free import allowance per year? Maybe some fellow CrackBerry member is flying down to Brazil and can sneak one in for you.

I chose the fastest shipping of 2-4 days. Got it at exactly 4 days when amazon re-stocked. Payed them import taxes as well so I can get my order delivered right at my house.

Yes, but when the device strives at Philippines, are you not charged by them? I mean, even if I had to pay taxes for US, Canada or something, Brazil would tax me again.

I don't know how it works. I think this import allowance is only applied when you're traveling or something. I'm not sure. Anyway, I heard the device is coming for Venezuela in late November bit could make it much more easier.

When it arrives here in the Philippines, the amount payed at amazon for the import tax will go to the customs here and that's it. You don't get charged again when it actually arrives here.

Have it delivered door to door and see. Pay amazon their calculated import tax and they will pay it for you at the customs of your country so that the package will go straight to your delivery address.
