I got my new red passport a week ago from shopblackberry. The build date was Dec 20th 14. Over 5 months old. Btw came with a completely discharged battery but doesn't seem to have any issues holding long charge. Just curious if they're sitting on a lot of early build stock. Is BlackBerry still producing the pp?

You can check stock by adding 1000 to the cart and it will tell you if less than 1000 (on shopblackberry stock only)

This may get you the stock remaining on the stock allocated for shopblackberry. Inventories are usually allocated even for their own channels.

I think the Red should be the same price as the Black and White. That's why it may not be moving as well.

I guess I'm curious if they're sitting on lots of unsold ones since I received a new one built in December.

Isn't the red a limited edition?

All mobile phones produced are in limited edition. Otherwise, we will see Bold 9900 still being manufactured as of today. The only difference is, some of them produced less in numbers compared with other units and added some 'uniqueness' to distinguish it with the standard items.

The 'limited edition' is actually part of Marketing 101. Although it maybe true that the manufacturer produced only limited quantities of the said unit, with added uniqueness, but the real concept on this 'limited edition' is to justify its pricing that is above standard. And human has a nature of wanting to be 'special' and this is driving the mechanism in producing the so-called 'limited edition'. In the end, ROI is still being given consideration when producing and marketing 'limited edition' units.

I really don't believe the red to be so limited. Price is on point with others. I have a feeling it was not selling well so they priced it where the others are priced at now because they had unsold old stock (of which I received one of) sitting around.

I received my Passport at the end of March, a white one. Build date was January 15th 2015. That's pretty fresh I think.

It may be a stupid question, but where do you see the build date of your phone? Thanks in advance

For your interest, I was keeping an eye on the red Passport on Amazon UK, they went out of stock about three or four weeks ago, since then they are waiting for new stock, which *might* never arrive because there is none. But that is just speculation on my side, since I find it pretty weird for Amazon taking so long to receive new stock.
