I have found that my device heats up with just moderate use. (no gaming or videos)

Is this normal? It isn't so hot that I can't hold the device but it's certainly uncomfortable. My Z30 almost never ran hot except for the rare occasion.

The CPU usage also seems to be low. System takes up the largest usage and it seems to hover around 20% to 25%. Everything else is under 2% or idling.

It might be some Android apps running at background. I use to have heating problem with android apps. After factory reset and with NO android apps, it run smoothly without hot.

The Passport's processor is in the upper, right hand side of the device. Your device acts as a heatsink. If this is the area getting warm, it is probably normal.

    I've been noticing this too.
Though my usage has been a little heavier(heavy, like in playing Crossy Road :P) Also my main browser is FireFox, and it seems to be quite a burden for the Passport. The top right corner of the phone gets uncomfortably hot and it slows down after even more use(possibly from thermal throttling).
I wish there at least was a way to control the CPU speed to a lower level. That way it'd run generally slower but not as hot as it is now...also it would solve the throttling as well.

I find mine only gets warm after using an android game or right after a blitz. Very warm after an autoloader installed but not hot during regular heavy usage otherwise. I would recommend reinstalling the OS and let it settle in for a few days. If the problem persists, I would RMA it

Mine does it too sometimes. Its normal, its got thermal protection so will shut down if it gets too hot, so dont worry.

Having seen the heating up of the phone but have seen the charger get very hot. Switched to my old Q10 charger and problem disappeared.
