I was watching a video via micro HDMI out with my Z10 and it seems that due to video formatting, the video only shows full screen when in landscape mode (turning the phone horizontal).
Then it struck me that the Passport has no landscape/portrait mode. And furthermore it dawned on me that the video-out may not be full screen.
Can anyone confirm something about full screen video output on the Passport? I think it uses micro-usb MHL rather than micro HDMI.

That's why you use the PlayOn feature, and then select HDMI. From there, you can even do something else on the phone while the video plays on the whole screen at 16:9.

Is play on available for z10? And can you check!(because I don't know what to look for) to see if it's available for the Samsung Smart TV 8000?

The stock video player on the Z10 has the Play On feature but not all apps have that.

This is only enabled when there is a HDMi cable attached to a TV.
I was wondering about whether the Passport will be displayed full screen or only centered on a TV.

This is something I wondered, but figured it would be answered once the device was "officially" introduced by BlackBerry and we get a proper CrackBerry unboxing and review by our EIC.
I figure since it is a square screen it is always in landscape mode. I never took pictures or videos with my phone (Z10) in portrait mode.

The Play on feature is also enabled when your Z10 is on the same wifi network as your smart TV so you can push your vidoes, music and photos on the big screen without the hassle of cable (DLNA enables that). Plus you can continue to chat, BBM, surfing the web, etc. On your phone .

See these are the things that should be in some sort of commercial letting the masses know just how cool and innovative BlackBerry is!

..and to add to that, if you have A Smart TV...well with DLNA support too...you can select that TV...or Blu Ray player...or XBOX 360. etc..and stream to that device over the Wi-Fi network...I use it a the time through my Blu Ray ..works like a charm...
