My last BB was the Bold 9900 before I drifted away. I'm thinking of a Passport or perhaps a Classic. I see that Android apps can be loaded from the Amazon app store but is it also possible to choose and load from the Google Play Store?

Yes there are two ways very kindly provided by people on here, even I managed to get it to work on mine and I'm as thick as two short planks.

There is a Google Play client called "Snap" which will allow you to download and install Android apps from the Google Play store. There are a few threads on this on Crack Berry that you may wish to search for.

Also, you can install Google Play itself. There are some threads on this, too. Basically it involves installing 3 separate .APK files. I have done both on my Z30 and it works well.

Some apps require Google Play Services, and while there is a hack for this, I have found it's better just to live with the fact that some apps can't be installed perfectly as Play Services requires more machine level access than the BlackBerry OS is willing to permit.

The answer to your question is, yes. You can do a search on CB for Google-playstore Cobolt (or something along those lines) and you will find the steps and files to be loaded onto your device.

Yes. Google Play can be installed on Passports using custom apks. I've been running it for a few months & love it!

I have Aptoid on my passport got it by emailing the APK to myself (just one file) and then clicking on it on my phone. It installed without issues. It basically has all the Android apps. No need to side load snap.
