Wouldn't it be great if the pkb could be set to touch typing?!
Just tapping the keyboard for input is much more convenient when laying on the sofa. :-)

Defeats the purpose of having a physical keyboard, also the touch part is in use for other features such as text deletion and predictive text.

I don't think this would be a defeat. A pkb is great. No question. But sometimes when laying lazy on the sofa it would be a great feature to just touch the keys.
Of course there already touch functions. But that's no problem if you could just disable them and activate the touchtyping.

Try yourself: lay yourself down on a sofa the passport above your head and try to type.... you will always be afraid the passport smashes down on your head because you are not really able to hold it ;-)

And what would be better than a pkb or vkb??? Answer: both in one :-)

An interesting idea but I doubt the keyboard hardware will be able to do that.

Why not? I am not a hardware expert but it should be possible to know which key is touched, for sure!

Well I just gave it a try. If you are using German Umlaut as I do you will see, that you can get a Umlaut if you press and hold a key. When all selectable Umlauts appear you can touchtap the key and only touching the corresponding key for the Umlaut is recognizer. That means the BlackBerry pkb knows exactly which key you tap. So why not have a phy touchkeyboard :-)

Keyboard touch events are generated on passport. It would be very useful, if this keyboard touch option is enabled.

Closest I found was to install an android keyboard and set it as default. Android apps use touch keyboard and BlackBerry apps use pkb
