I use only Gmail thru hub. Do I set options to allow push and never sync?

I asked because by default it was set to push. And sync every thirty min. Do I need both?

I have push and sync every 5 mins.
It doesn't hurt to have both.
If it doesn't push than sync will occur. Helps keep everything up to date and current across all devices.

Having both push and sync can drain your battery. I've been using just Push and sync manually for the email and it works fine and preserves my battery life.

Using both doesn't drain phone that bad.
On average I get 16 hours
If I leave the phone a loan and let it stand with screen off I get 48 hours easly.
