My Passport has a slight bump on the steel frame at the top of the phone, nothing major. Other than that, build quality is really great. Stuff like this can happen on any device, just think back at the time the iPhone 5 premiered: a lot of people complained about lack of build quality with the new aluminum construction. And this was Apple with their premium flagship.

For things like this, you can always return your product and get a new one.

Mine feels like a tank. Solid, key presses are tight and precise, zero complains regarding build quality.

So I got my second PAssport after sending back the old one. While the new one doesn't have the rather noticeable bumb on the frame at the top of the device, it has a very small one at the lower left side of the device. You absolutely barely notice it and I only saw it after I wanted to take a picture of my PP standing on a table - it always fell over and I was curious why. Won't send it back this time though.

After reading the thread about the split screen, I went over my device with a x10 jeweler's loupe and haven't found any defects. I haven't detected any problems at all with the hardware but granted this is only my second day. I've had several BlackBerry devices and never had any issues in this particular area.

Build quality is the best I've ever seen on a BlackBerry!! I ordered mine from amazon and I'm very pleased. This is a beast of a device. I may even get the classic when it launches as well.
